Charitable Giving and Goals
Giving back is an important part of life. While most of us are saving for our retirements, there are millions who struggle with finding proper shelter. Tens of millions are spent each and every month to insure our nation against illness, and then tens of millions more spent fighting off sickness. That's why we devote a large portion of our revenue each month to research for cures to different diseases; and to groups that provide care and opportunity to the most vulnerable of society.
The following is a list of organizations and researchers that CompleteIRA supports in various capacities and ways. We encourage our visitors to look over each themselves and consider supporting them in whatever way is most appropriate.
Groups We Support
- Live Strong
- Live Strong is Lance Armstrong's charity to help people diagnosed with cancer to fight it and live their life well. You can get information on this four star charity on their site. There are many different organizations to devoted to stopping cancer, heart disease, and other things that should have no place among us. Find one the moves you and do what you can.
- Habitat for Humanity
- Habitat for Humanity is fantastic group that helps people with a hand-up (as opposed to a hand-out). Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent homes with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat homes are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. The homeowners monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat homes. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor & sweat equity into building their home and the homes of others.
- Folding @ Home
- The Folding Homepage is where you can learn about this very special project. They have been working on, with success, special software that models how proteins "fold" and "misfold." This work will greatly improve our understanding of Alzheimer's Disease, Cancer, Huntington's Disease, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Parkinson's Disease, Ribosomes, and antibiotics. They have software you can install that will allow your computer to take part in helping their research. Accelerating development of effective drugs and better preventative care.
- Portland Rescue Mission
- Helping people everyday with things as simple as getting a hot meal and a place to sleep. The need for their services has sadly increased over the past years. With the toll that drug abuse has taken on our nation, each and everyday there are people coming to the mission in need of care. We are grateful for the chance to contribute to this worthy group. If you have a heart for it; they are always looking for volunteers to them help meet the basic needs of the people they serve.
- Doernbecher Children's Hospital
- Caring for children and their families. This hospital does great things for the children in its wings. Donations support the medical care of children in need along with research. One day fewer and fewer children will need their care, and more and more children will get to play outside and just be kids.
